Project Details - Location
Background
The Route 9W Bridge spans over Routes 95, 1&9, 46, and 4 at MP 0.05 in the Borough of Fort Lee, Bergen County. The bridge deck is in poor condition and it is functionally obsolete due to the substandard deck geometry and lateral and vertical clearances. The original bridge was built in 1930 and requires increased maintenance repairs to allow it to remain open to traffic. The purpose of the proposed project is to replace the bridge to address the existing safety, longevity, and functionality concerns of the bridge while minimizing inconvenience to the public by maintaining pedestrian access across the bridge and providing effective traffic operations within this heavily travelled corridor.
